Peter Pan is gone! Hurray~

In the mornings, the students were doing Thanksgiving arts and crafts. We've made colorful Native American (Indian) hats and turkeys with beautiful feathers. The turkeys are so cute, each of them with unique look that shows how different each student perceive the animal.

Teacher Scott have also started to rehearse the Christmas play and the songs. So please spend sometime with them each night to practice their lines.

In the afternoon, we read the story "Yasmin's Ducks." A very informative story about a little girl name Yasmin that read a book about ducks. The story taught the students that ducks don't get wet because they have oil on their feathers.

For phonics we learned about the Long O sound like O E. Words like phone, tone, bone, cone, stone, bore, sore. For grammar we learned about the usage for have and has. In our TOPS book, we learned about our community such as banks, bakery, library, post office, and etc.

We also learn cause and effect. The ground is wet. The cause is the rain. The effect is wet ground. Please try to explain this concept to them at home when you can. Use scenarios in your daily life to help enrich your child's education.

Individual Comments
Henry enjoys class but he is often distracted. Even though he tells me that I am very handsome, but I still need him to pay more attention.

Frank is doing excellent in class, he loves to raise his hands. He still struggles a bit on phonics but he is doing better.

Carson has great attitude and he is also trying very hard in class.

Jerry is doing good but his writing is a little sloppy.

Samson has made a dramatic improvement since the last time I've taught him. His reading ability and phonics are much better. He concentrates more in class and he is not easily distracted.

Eliza can be a little shy but I think because I am new to her. I am trying to get her to speak up more.

Tricia is very responsible and she is also very polite. When ever I hand her a pencil or correct her book, she would always tell me thanks. She sets a good example so I tell others to follow.

Evie is fantastic in class, she enjoys the class and loves to raise her hands. Her comprehension is good but she can improve her speaking. I also have told her to be more patient when she write. Now she is doing better.

Sunny loves to participate in class but sometimes she will speak out of turn. Overall, she is doing great at her work.

Esther takes the class seriously, she also participates but sometimes she can get distracted. She can do her work independently with a little bit of assistance.

Lauren and Lily are doing exceptional in class. They participate very often and at the same they help other students. They both take care of their work and follow directions very well.

Lily surprised me during class when I was talking to another student about playing with water bottle. I asked the student, you know why the water bottle keeps falling down on the floor because you kept playing with it. Lily told me that the student was the "cause." Lily understands some of the abstract concepts very well.

Final words, opportunity for education is not only at school. It can happen at the most insignificant moment of our lives. Please educate your child, not only when they make a mistake, when you spend quality time with them.

Week 16

I’m looking forward to seeing your all at our Art Exhibition this Friday evening. The all day Armadillo’s had a great deal of fun at the MRT Museum in Beitou on Tuesday. We learned all about what to do in case of emergencies. We have been talking a lot about word order and using WH question words like “what” and “why” at the beginning of sentences. For instance, it is not appropriate to say, “He is who?” I will be home visiting my family for the next two weeks. I’m sure all of the Armadillos will be on their best behavior during my absence.

As we spoke about in our meeting, Lauren is making great progress academically. We will focus on those points we discussed over the next few weeks.

Lily has been doing very good work this week. I appreciate the gifts you sent in this morning. It’s very important that if Lily brings in something for most of the class that there is enough for everyone. She was one short this morning and one boy was left out.

Esther has been doing great work. She has been focused and on task in class.

Sunny has made such a great deal of progress recently. The one thing I would like to see her work on is waiting her turn in class. On occasion she speaks out of turn or while other students are speaking. She did get in a great deal of trouble this morning. She slammed a door closed behind her and knocked another boy in the head. She spent the morning in the office.

Jerry is growing into such a charismatic young man. He brings enthusiasm and a positive attitude to class everyday. I’m happy to see him experimenting with the language we have learned and asking me questions or telling me about his weekend each morning.

Frank needs to put in a bit more effort towards staying on task during class. If he is not completely focused, it is very easy for him to fall behind.

We missed Evie yesterday. I hope she’s feeling better.

Elisa does very good work when she focuses. As we spoke about in our meeting, I’d like to see her stay on task during class.

Tricia’s attitude is a model for all her classmates. Keep it up.

Samson really does need to work on focusing in class. His mind is often up in the clouds.

Carson has been very focused and on task recently. Keep it up!

Henry needs to focus in class. He has not been on task this week. It will be very hard for him to catch up if he falls behind.

Week 15

I had fun with all of our recent festivities but I’m also very happy to get things back to normal. We made some lovely pictures on Tuesday morning for our upcoming Art Exhibition. Otherwise, everything is on track.

I’m so happy to have Lauren back again. We missed her! It sounds like she had a wonderful time and has been enjoying telling us stories about Disney World and Hong Kong.

Lily is very proud of her participation in Teacher Andy’s class. We will continue to work on learning lessons in humility.

Esther has been doing great progress. We had fun baking brownies the other day. It’s always nice to see how well behaved she is when we do group activities with other classes.

Sunny’s attitude in class is much improved and she has continued to make great progress a result.

Jerry was a little bit out of sorts earlier this week. I’m not sure if he was tired, or sick, or what. He seems to be back to his normal, charismatic self.

Frank has been very positive this week and much more engaged in class group work. His conversational skills are improving dramatically.

Evie has been extremely positive and engaging this week. Please think about what we talked about in our meeting. It was very nice speaking with you.

Elisa was really quiet but she seems to be back to her normal self. I assume she was just stressed from her mid-terms. It was nice chatting with you.

Tricia is positive and hard working as always. She’s a real joy to have in class. Keep it up.

Samson has been a little better about staying on task this week. Keep it up.

Carson has been continuing the same trend of focusing and hard work in class. Great effort.

Henry has had some trouble focusing and following along with the class this week. He will need to pick it up if he wants to keep up with the class.

Week 14

Thank you all for coming out to our Halloween Party. I hope you all had as much fun as I did. It’s been good to get things back the normal routine this week. We’re gearing up for our art gallery open in the coming weeks.

Sunny has been doing so much better recently. She still gets into trouble on occasion, but she is much much more focused in class. Keep it up.

Lily is doing great. I’m glad to see her so excited about her spot on Tree House TV. Great work memorizing those lines.

Jerry seemed a little out of sorts this (Thursday) morning. He started crying because he didn’t get to play with the train set before class. This isn’t like him. Maybe he’s getting sick?

Frank has been doing well. He’s been focused in class and, as always, very well behaved. Keep it up.

We were sorry to miss Lauren this week. I hope you guys have a great trip to Hong Kong and look forward to seeing her next week.

Esther has been doing great. We did an arts and crafts project with the Panda class Tuesday afternoon. I was proud to see how well behaved she was in comparison to the other students.

Eliza has been very quiet this week. Maybe she’s just tired from her tests at school. I hope she is back to her normal, vivacious self next week.

Evie is always a joy in class. She always arrives full of smiles and with such a wonderful attitude. Keep it up.

Tricia has been doing great work. I do hope she will put a little more effort into asking questions at more appropriate times.

Samson is doing good work in class. I spoke to him the other day about trying to work on concentrating and working independently. We’ll work on it.

Henry has made an awful lot of progress reading. When he shows up and focuses he does great work. When he zones out, he is totally lost.

Carson has kept up his strong work ethic. I hope this continues. He is making great progress.
