This week was rainy outside but still sunny inside the classroom as the children enjoyed classroom activities and remained bright-eyed despite the weather. This week we’ve been working on algebra charts during math class. The kids have been practicing their mathematical reasoning by working through number charts. During reading class we enjoyed a story about a little blue bird that was afraid to fly but soon learned to overcome his fears. We then discussed moments in our own lives when we felt afraid and how overcoming those fears made us stronger, more capable people.
In science class we discussed magnetic forces and
talked about what makes magnets “stick.” We also did experiments and created charts to find out what kind of things a magnet will stick to. We discovered that magnets will only stick to certain things: metals containing iron.
We took advantage of the nice weather on Wednesday and had P.E in the park. The kids loved the relay race with Teacher Cory.
In celebration of the Dragon Boat festival we’ll be making small wooden boats over the next few days, and next Wednesday Treehouse Academy will venture out to the riverside park to watch the races. How exciting!
